Alex Stokes

Alex Stokes Contompasis is a journalist and artist from Albany, NY who has been documenting social unrest since 2014. Alex was charged with several violent felonies after he ran to help others when a group of Proud Boys instigated violence against counter-protestors at a “Stop the Steal” rally in 2021.

Alex was found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Alex’s family and friends maintain that he was railroaded by the system.

A man with no criminal history, and with lifelong ties to the community, was issued a sentence far more severe than most who commit reckless acts of violence.
